Well lads went to Steetly today. Took secret weapon-my mountain bike in the back of the motor.
Cycled up with strong wind behind me. Set up on concrete end. Wind was very strong and spoiling the fishing. Unable to see any bites. There was a canny sea with a nice swell and some rollers coming in. No cod seen to be caught but again massive whities. I let the 3-4 i caught go. I also caught a big blemmie. On a 3 - o hook.
Just started to get dark and decided i,d had enough.
Still never blanked.
I was also mystified by my rod pulling in something heavy for a short while and then it went light. When i checked my pulley rig-hooks were gone.

Mick.

Mick, were you casting roughly 70-100 yards, straight out from the end of the pier? The concrete bit off the front with the railings, not the right hand conrner? Just I was on there a few weeks ago with 2 other lads and we're convinced there is a snag a fair way out. A lad next to us had a big, big bend in his rod, from the front, when we got there but after pulling it, it went light. Thought it was all clean ground but it must be a snag.

There is a very old wreck off the end of Steetley. A wooden boat (whats left of it) and depending on the weather, bits get uncovered from time to time.

Cheers lads i know where the exact spot is to get snagged. Its at the end 45% out by the big pipe on your right. I,m sick of telling people. I believe it is an old net which used to be on the end but has moved further round. I know it was straight off the end because i got stuck first cast when i first went on Steetly ages ago.
My feelings re the wieght is it was a fish probs another big whitie. There is no snags and no big crabs as its a sandy bottom.
I could,nt see the bites with the wind so it was a case of each rod out 15 mins. Then in and re-bait.
