Just got in lads. Tried the Heugh again and it was very enjoyable. Slow at first with a little blemmie.

Then it picked up-flatties galore. In fact i had three on on 3-hook snood. Also a few decent whities.
I left the big casting rod out loaded up with rag and squid-just in case a spring cod came past. Guess what one did. Its in my freezer now filleted. Not a monster fish just under two pounds but a sight for sore eyes. Thats three this year.

I think it is to early to pack up yet.

Well done Mick, and here's me packed up fishing for the winter cos I thought there were no cod left!!

Never fished the summer for cod but definitely going to this year, as soon as them caravan parks open up I'll be away every weekend I can.

Once again, well done on the codling, they are few and far between.

Nice one mate, me and a mate fished the Huff last Saturday, he had a small codling, maybe around 1lb.

the fence was bigger than expected but not a problem.Ended up with 8 whities,a dab,a rockling and a lobster,not a bad night,appart from having to listen to local lads swearing their heads off and talking about fighting all night,good though.

were they drinking whisy and cans they were when i was there ,makes you think how stupid it is when theres no railings to save you and holes allover the ground to trip on ,cant understand folk like that

Barney glad the fishing went o.k.
Sorry about the lads swearing on and drinking. It does not make sense. I really cannot understand why people do this. I mean the pier has not even got railings on and if you go over and crack your head.
The only time i have heard p--s take banter was when a local club fished but it was all tongue in cheek micky taking and no one drank.
I have never been involved in any trouble or even seen any off the piers in Hartlepool.
If the lads were so annoying there is another pier round the sea front called the red light. You can see it to your right when you look into the docks. It is a good spot fishing from here into the harbour. No fence to climb and your car is nearby.

Dont get me wrong it wasnt a problem,they were just local lads enjoying a nights fishing on their pier and I enjoyed my evening anyway.
