Shields pier Gates

Do the gates still shut at 7.30pm or is it later?

Really need to know the correct time as taken a disabled person fishing this week after work and dont want to have the trip spoiled by leaving before the tide we wish to fish etc.

hi mate ,close the gate when they feel like it sometimes don,t open it.but sunderland pier is always open as long as weather is ok.hope this helps mate you and your friend enjoy your fishing.

Shields not that bad it is only closed if it is a big sea or fog, checked web cam and its flat with no fog, the gates have a time on the pier that they shut for June and they stick to it like clue most nights "i.e walk along 40mins before the stated time ont he gates to tell people its closing soon"

Just really need to know asap when the time is for this month, should of looked last time i was down.

He usually closes the gates a half an hour before sunset, but anyway he walks along to the end to let you know he is locking up, and you can watch for him coming along ( hi-viz jacket ). hope this helps

i tried to get on sunday gone it was locked and a sign said it was shut for building work , don't know how recent the sign was though

The building work has been ongoing since this time last year. Most anglers just ignore it and climb around. Just don't get in the way of the work and you should be ok.
