Tides

Can anyone body tell me or show me a website that gives you an estimate of high/low tides based on off shore 4mile to 8mile for example.

I.e. high tide at Tynemouth on land 9am but at sea 6 miles off ish is ???? what do you add or subtract for being out at sea?

Easy one. Just look for the tidal diamonds on the chart. They are marked with a letter, usually purple in a purple diamond. go to the info section on the chart and it will tell you the strength and direction of the tidal flow. In the spoil ground NE of the Yyne about 6 mile out there is a diamond with a "B" in it [just above the "r" in ground on chart 152]. The tidal stream data on the bottom left of the chart shows slack water 2 hours after HW at the tyne. LW is 4 hours before HW Tyne. The first numbers are the direction of flow of the tide i.e. after LW it is 195 degrees [west of south] then 184,176, 166, 159, 157, hen slack water where it changes to 20 degrees, 355, 350, 345, 341, 340, 339, and then back to slack water at 195 degrees. Maximum tidal flow on springs is 0.8 knots and 0.4 knots neaps. slack water is between 0.1 and 0 knots.
There is another diamond "D" just off the s/shields pier about a mile. This shows HW slack at 2 hours after HW tyne and LW slack 4 hours before HW Tyne. directions are a little different and the tidal flow slightly stronger.
The Navionics charts on Lowrance kit show the same info if you click on the diamond on the chart. Blue and C-map should be the same

the plotter we've got does predictions based on your gps position, but I have to say braine has hit it on the head. Admiralty charts are the best answer. the gps predictions are sort of close-ish, but the paper chart table predictions are pretty damn good I've found.

You can also guestimate reasonabably accurate the streams in between the chart markers as well, especially the further offshore you go
