Father and Son sesh

Had my first father and son sesh of the season last night. Jack and I fished the burn at Seaton Point over low water last night for a couple of hours. Had him on with the multiplier for the frist time and had a laugh and a half at the birdsnests he kept making. Third time lucky he made a decent cast.
I got straight into it with Peeler crab on a 4/0 pulley rig on me trusty Mk1 Greys Appollo and Penn 535 Mag hoping not to make a fool of myself by birdsnesting also. Fortunately it didn't and we spent the next few hours with only one bite (Jacks rod), but had some real good craic, about life, women, friends and he was even asking me what it was like to smoke (scary I know, but the conversation on women was far more colourful, I had my eyes opened what 11 year olds get up to).
It was over all too soon and he made a good job of laying the line back onto his Slosh 20. I went to my rod and lifted into what felt like a fish (hadn't noticed a knock but then the conversation was pretty distracting at times).

Sadly me for me wether it was just big ball of kelp or a bass of a lifetime, the line went dead and my gear soon appeared at my feet.

Good craic and can't wait for our next sesh

nice one, another few years till my son goes fishing though he's still at the rock pool stage.

Wheres the burn at seaton point fished that mark south side only with little to show.

Hi George, It's where the water comes down from the golf course onto the beach, Lots of rock features in the channel around there over low water. Usually need a bit of sea to produce fish but it was just to get him out as he was gutted coz his younger brother had gone to see Man Utd play at old Trafford

one the pleasures of my life fishing with my lads, just a shame they now live 175 miles away from me, comes as a supprise what they come out with when mums not there and they suddenly `one of the lads`, oldest is 23 this year, still goes fishing, just never got the money lol. he was moaning the other week his old reels buggered and he cant afford a new one, " what a shame son, your old mans got no spares either" - just aint told him theres a brand new abu 6500 sitting here waitin till nov the 1st-his birthday ;)

Its not one of those new gold colour mags is it. They look the bizz. Something like £99-£110 which is still loads cheaper than the Penn supermag i bought a couple years back.

Fancy one of the 6500 but also get misty eyed looking at the old green supermag.

As to my lad fishing he seems to have a low interest level. Built a wall out of stone last time i took him up the resevoir.

i remember the first time me and my son went macky fishing , he was 7 and on his third cast with a spinner he got one . i only wish i had a cam with me, the expression on his face ,as he tryed to reel it in was pure magic, and he had to carry it off by his self to show his mam ,happy days.
