Just sorted out the polarity with the magnets and this looks to have done the trick.Thanks to everyone for ther advise

Cheers for that jul,but still not sure why there is no resistance on the supermag i have.The spool is made from a no conduucting material,is there something missing from the spool i.e a disc made from a conducting material or something.I know this sounds daft but being new to the sport I dont...

But magnets only work against ferrous metals not the likes of aluminium
