    Good stamp of fish

Oli joined me on the boat at 08.30 after an all-nighter fishing for bass, and we set off from Amble and headed north. The winds were at last behaving themselves, though there were a couple of downpours later on. We stopped at Seaton point for a while, and there were some codling around, but they...

A fun day out, Amble 9 May

I was joined by Jon, who also keeps his boat at Amble marina for an early start, sailing from the marina at 7.00 am. It was a beautiful morning, blue skies and no swell, so we headed down to Cresswell. Water clarity there was good, at around 12 feet, and water temp a mild 10 degrees. The codling...

    Boat trips

I see there is a new charter boat operating out of Amble, the Cassie Rose II, and they have posted that they were out very recently, with photos of some 3lbers and a ballan wrasse. It's starting to look encouraging. All we want now are some calm seas.

    Boat trips

I hope so! But maybe not until later in the month. She went back into the water today, squeaky clean. At least for now. Nobody at Amble marina has been catching much so far, but fingers crossed for your trip.

First trip of 2025 - not a great success

been fishing since tues only had 2 fish in 3 days tried everything the only thing i havent tried is the wrecks cant understand it It's strange alright, given that some shore anglers are landing nice fish. Otherwise I might have suggested the cod have gone offshore chasing sprats.

First trip of 2025 - not a great success

I'm visiting family down south otherwise I would have joined you on one of those days. Good luck, I hope you do well. The ice in the RQ basin looks thick. No wonder nobody risked venturing out. At Amble, it was a lot thinner, especially off my berth.

First trip of 2025 - not a great success

It was a first for me, breaking a passage through the ice to get out of Amble marina yesterday! Fortunately, the ice was very thin towards my pontoon, but I still took it carefully as I didn't want to scratch the boot-topping. There was more floating ice too in the harbour. Once clear of the...
