    Loch Etive

no its not very snaggy, hardly lost anything, only time you loose gear is when you drift passed bouys, rigs get caught on ropes under the water. But had no trouble anywhere else.

    Loch Etive

No problem, I used braid, June should be a good time, I went beginning of July this year and it had all the species there, although the mackerel were still scarce. Its a great loch if your on the species hunt, but havnt caught anything massive of yet.

    Loch Etive

loch etive loch etive Have been going to loch etive myself for the last 3 years. Would recommend using 12 or 14oz sinkers, as when the tide gets underway its pretty strong. The times I have been, have always used Dougs self drive boats, from where you start off on the boats, if you head right...

First winter session of season 17/11/13

Went out for the first time in almost 2 months on Sunday, hit a mark near the can and put the pik down. Not much catching, about 6 cod all day caught, biggest being around 3 pound, apart from that, just the usual scotchies, wrasse and the odd coalie popping up now and then, but majority of fish...

    Lewis tackle

Yeah, its closed down, shame it was a good shop, always got decent bait there. There is a thread all about it in the shore fishing forum, with about 50 replies. Rumour has it that a new store is opening up on Whitley Bay promenade.

Not Long Now Till The Whiting Bashing!

Ha know what you mean Richie, am obsessed with the MET office application on me phone, with Wednesday morning being the big day each week, as you get the five day forecast for Sunday. I will still be checking it day by day throughout the winter, will be posting on here about any good results we...

    Bait

I tend to vary the bait I put on depending what others on boat or catching on. Think Macky is a decent all rounder and I always take some on board, but always as a preffered bait, use worms, squid tipped lugworm is my favourite combination. Have heard peeler crab being deadly for catching cod...

When will the season start again

Like I said in a previous post, winter for me equals, whiting, whiting and more whiting. Decent size if last year is anything to go by. We just anchor up not far from north shields pier on the rough ground and let the fish come to us. There were days last year where the boat were taking around...

Not Long Now Till The Whiting Bashing!

That sounds good to me, especially the 300% increase in cod from last year, its always nice to bring any type of fish up onto the boat, but last year getting into whiting after whiting was rather tedious. I do remember last year for some reason also, there were quite a lot of plaice knocking...

Not Long Now Till The Whiting Bashing!

If last year is anything to go by, wont be long before the whiting start showing in there numbers, but hope there are at least a few cod around this winter. Not one cod caught on the boat I go out from last year, from the end of November, all the way through to around April/May. How have the cod...
