13.06.09 Stingray Big fish report

Well a 7hr trip today as had to be back for family meal but boy it was worth going out.

Started today on the rough ground with my Cous Gaz taken 7 codling from 3-4lb, headed out to a 4 mile wrecks and landed the only 2 mackerel of the day and 2 more codling in the 5lb range.

Tried 2 other wrecks with only 1 small 3lb ling and scotties on, then off to the 4th and last wreck of the day a few more miles away and landed a 5lb ling on the 1st drift then..................Stingrays 2nd double of the season 2009 baited home made trace ment for ling was picked up by a rod bending 19lb 2oz cod (see pics) after a good fight in typical cod fashion it hit the surface through the still black water and was netted (just)

5mins after being caught it was 19lb 20z, got it checked at the Royal Quays for that H.F comp and it was just over 18lb so lost about a 1lb in the 4hrs from catching.

So total catch was 10 cod, 1 ling and 2 mackerel for me

My cous Gaz got 1 ling and 4 codling and loads of scotties.

Apart from the cold wind it felt like summer...i.e 2 baits out a fresh mackerel and bang

Wont be out until Friday now and hoping for the west winds to clear the sea up abit.
