i've been reading everyones posts for a while now, stingray, growler, canman, slinky kate etc etc...all getting boats ready for the season, first trips out [a few blanks] and today it seems it's all beginning
we've had 2 trips out this season before today and nothing really to report, but today we decided on a "stupid o'clock" start and head out from Hartlepool down to a few marks near skinningrove which were producing good fish last year
arrived about 7.15 and hit the inshore marks first and we were into fish allmost immediatly [shads are wonderful] with phil averaging a good sized fish every 5 mins, and me and lee not far behind
we kept about a dozen and moved offshore to a spot we were very lucky with last year, but today didn't fish well at all so after an hour or so we came back in to try a few drifts over some rough ground further south, and again we were into fish !! best part of the day was to watch as phil very nearly landed a nice cod of around 9lb, shame it spat the shad out at the last second and swam away..... ..... couldn't resist a muted laugh...sorry phil, but it lives to fight another day
pleased sea conditions remained smooth for the ride back to Hartlepool
exelent day's fishing.................
season begins.........................
