On Facebook there is a group that post old pictures and videos of my home town. It is really wonderful to look back to the old days. This short film is on steam trains in my home town from 1966. Fantastic too look back on days I just about remember. I know it is nothing to do with the North East, but I hope it may be of interest to some of you. Great memories.

Great film, I love watching these old films about steam trains they have some charecter and class about them unlike their modern counterparts. Operating that turntable must have been hard work:o

enjoyed that mark,i travelled to primary school for 5 years on a steam train,CORROUR TO TULLOCH on the west highland line.

the turntables were not too bad,the gearing was ok and if kept greased worked not too bad.there was one at RANNOCH station

Thowt you went on a chariot duncy ;):)

Duncan what I think is pertinent is, that in 50 years hence, Scot Rail (even with electric trains) have only manged to reduce the travelling time from Gourock to Glasgow by 9 minutes compared to the old steam trains!

Who says technology rules! :)

Kayos has the track been upgraded in the 50 years may be that could be the problem;).
