1st cod of the season "whopper"

roker pier last night 3 of us fished from 6 till 4.30 in the morning
had yellow tails, lug, white rag crab and makki
bites all night mostly whitings to which 7 where kept ,3 flounders
a rockling

AND
MY FIRST COD OF THIS YEAR AND LAST YEAR
fishing into the bay opposite the barrier i got a knock then bang my rod nearly went over the railings as i grabbed it i new it was a goodun rod bent over ,reel struggling i was shaking eventually after a 10 minute battle i got my first look at it ,lookly for me codfather 145 grabbed it and hand balled it up a nice plump codling of around 4lb
SORRY BOYS I MUST OV BEEN DREAMING IT WAS A TINY CODLING OF 4 OZS

returned to fight another days
nice nights fishing with a few codling to a pound caught off the top later on the night
PS... met scaley off the site nice bloke and great banter

Good to meet you last night mate and the pier entertainments manager Rob......had a good laugh and a few fish,shame the cod never turned up in numbers.......no doubt see you lads down there again sometime.

hello m8 didnt realise who you were but still nice to meet you and yes you will see the pier entertainments manager rob and his roadies codfather145 and toonboymc next time a better stamp of cod hopefully next time you can give me a backer along the pier on the bike lol

Lol, that codling is about the same size as one I had on the Walkway last week. On the other hand that looks like a canny size slug plus two more for the species list. Well done.
