Going out st the weekend all going to plan. Probably from Craster. Any advice on kit to take for a day out. Got a boat rod n reel sorted. Suggested bait, rigs, weights?

Should I take a flotation top?.... Don't want to drag along loads of stuff I don't need but also don't want to overlook anything vital due to lack of experience.

Any advice welcome.

This time of year I would wager you'll be fishing rough ground in the main.

15 or so leads (12oz)

Same number of multi hook rigs...whatever takes your fancy as you'll be tipping them with bait

Ragworm
Squid
Bluey
Mussel

Food and drink for yourself
Waterproofs and something to keep your head warm

Dunno about full on floaty suit...up to you on that one

That should do you ;)

10 pints a gud vindaloo and you'll be good for a 8 hr trip prof :);)

Cheers fellas.
Dont know the boat details as someone else is organising it.
Rest if the advice is great.
Plenty vindaloo and a colostomy bag.
Was only thinking floaty smock and good waterproof troozers.

I feel sick just thinking about going, sea sickness yuk, if its there get it up soon as other wise it just lingers on all day. lol good look mate

Aye, you didn't tell us about the Asda prawns our first time out Duncan!! :D

You will be going out with Douggie. He has a new boat this season-its quite fast and named after his uncle who passed away.
We go out regular and he is spot on. I take 10 - 12 oz sinkers. Some hockeyes-three hook ones you can get from Boyes. Shads. And sometimes bait to tip off hockeyes. It can be a tackle nightmare so let your lead hit the bottom then get it up--don't let it drag its fatal. I bounce mine along. Clothing-well he has a big cab to chuck stuff in. If its cold and wet you will be glad you took a floatation suit.
There are some toilets as you drive into Craster so have a last minute rain check-follow all advice given-especially sea sick tablets and dont drink night before.
Mick.

Cheers fellas.
Mrs P definitely ain't invited.
I heard dougies name mentioned so that's probably right.

Really looking forward to getting out as I've not been before. Sea sickness has never been a problem. Been out on boats but never fishing.
Did go round Skye collecting lobster pots about 35 years ago but I was a nipper n it was the biggest adventure of my childhood.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, footwear. Dougies last boat was always awash, so take some wellies or waterproof boots. Mussels a good bait up there.
Have a good trip.
