1st time on Roker Pier

Took a trip down to Sunderland yesterday, picked up an old mate of mine at Grindon, then away down to Roker for my first time and fished it for a couple of hours.

Bit disappointed to find the end blocked off, with the lighthouse all happed up for renovation.

Weather was brilliant, apart from the near gale and I didn't blank, pulling in a mackerel:)

We tried a bit of spinning on the beach inside the wall, which was okay but after half an hour of being sand blasted, we gave it up and I dropped my mate off back home.

On my way homeward, I decided to pop up to Shields for a couple of hours as I was more or less already there:)

I found a hardy handful of folk on the end, being blown around but still pulling in the odd mackerel or coalie.

I'd been there about an hour, when I spotted two coppers ( huge big bloke and tiny little lassie!) wandering up the pier, the big bloke came straight towards me and asked if I'd; "Seen anyone acting suspiciously, fair hair, slim built, 5ft 10" and looking like they might be going to jump off the pier?"

I thought 'on here, acting suspiciously, etc etc?' 'only every time I've been on the pier this year!' :D but just said "no" adding I'd only been there an hour, maybe the others might have seen someone.

They went around and asked everybody, then sauntered back along the pier.

Anyway, there were one or two fish coming in, but I couldn't catch owt, so after a couple of hours, I packed up and set off home.

I reckon that'll be me now for the year, unless we get some settled weather before it gets too cold, when I might pop back down and have a go at some "proper" fishing.:red:
