Got in yesterday and had me tea, decided to pop along Blyth Pier about half 4 while the weather looked okay for a bit of spinning. Few on but not jam packed. Took 4 mackeral on the end, very sparadic, managed to make an utter mess of the line on my reel so gave up, had enough for the table anyway.

Noticed a bunch near the bend were taking them on feathers/daylights for a brief while, had a fair sized pile lying on the boards when I left, just hope they weren't destined for the bin.

Started to walk back along the pier just as the heavens opened big time, was like a drowned rat when I got back to the car!

Nice fresh fishies in the sink...

Yeah, oddly also my first of the year - was along once at the start of the season and blanked, tried spinning when we were in South Wales the other week but the fishing was dead so nada there. Was nice to feel the first one hit the line, pleasantly familiar thud followed by it rocketing off :)

Yep, apparantly fishing better on the early morning high tides, but there was still plenty being caught the other night.

Nice one. Caught a few myself on spinners with light braided line and very light spinning rod. What a fight they can give you on light gear, better than a boat double

just back from blyth pier me self and yes still loads being caught. didn't bother with them tonight, was hoping for a flatty, whiting, codling(dream on) the best spot appeared to be the corner, eveytime i looked up they were pulling them in on their float gear:eek: lad next to me had a canny codling of about 2lbs from the river side of the pier, taken on rag. oh, i blanked by the way:p mebees next time............
