There's 3 rocket oils red, yellow and tournament.
Red being the slowest, I personaly use yellow on some reels and tournament on others, if your just getting to grips with the reel I'd recommend the red, otherwise the yellow would be ok with the mags on full to start off with, and you only need a couple of drops in mate not a decent squirt

Yes this is very true, you use what your comfortable with, if you want more protection and an even slower reel use axle grease

I would not put wd40 on the bearings, only a tiny drop of 3-1 oil, after being cleaned by lighter fuel or other, the reel has to be balanced correctly by loading the line evenly, and set it to just rock side to side a smidge and then try it. I have two and when I stripped them both even the spindles were caked in grease, make sure you clean them as well.

The Bearings are greased packed for long term protection standard from Penn. ( This can actually caused as much problems as it prevents)

I removed the bearings left them in ligther fluid for a few hours to decake the grease. gave the bearings a gentle clean with a tooth brush then left to dry.

I then sparyed with a drop of penetrating oil roated the bearing so all surface got lubricated and refited to the reel and used some Abu oil (two drops) to ensure there was enough Lubrication.

I now rinse in warm water after use andonce a month i re lubricated the bearings.

However i would recommended repeating the above if the reel becomes submerged in sea water or exposed to spray for a long time. Mine got submerged when not paying attenention whislt fishing on the flood at a beach mark and within 12 hours there was signs of oxididsation on the interenals.

cheers for all the comments ppl I ordered the red oil any ways. I only used wd40 as I had nowt elsebut haven't used the reel yet when the oil comes a will strip it down and put two drops of the red tg's oil in
