525 mag service

Reel needs a service,decided to have a go at it myself. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.Ive done ABUs in the past so im not a complete novice.Just think it needs an open up clean and relube,no problems.

when you service the reel dont take free spool lever screw out it can be a pig to put together also under the main cog there are two screws take them out there is a big bearing to oil or grease under there dont over tighten the screws they are easy striped

its just as easy to do as a abu 7000 but be carefull with a free spool lever do not loosen screw and just take your time and its a doddle

Done reel service today.Completeley stripped,all parts cleaned in paraffin,dried re-lubed & reassembled,only problem i had was that i took the free spool lever out before reading your advice.Anyway managed after a bit of a fiddle.
I think compared to the ABU reels, the penn was easier to overhaul and seemed to be more sturdy inside,not that theres out wrang with ABUs.

All i had was DIAWA reel oil,for the bearings and a tiny touch of Vaseline on the main gears as per recommendation of Terry at Reel sport.The reels now running like a Rolls Royce.
