6 cod from old north pier, S'lun

Canny swell last night. Headed off to Seaburn beach but without my bait bucket. Went back home (luckily I live in Seaburn) and decided the hand of fate was telling me to go down to the ratty. Actually saw a massive rat, gorging on angler leftovers.

Fished the north pier end - 6 codling, missed about 10 other bites, fish gagging for mussel.
Fish - 2.5lb, 2lb, 2lb, 1.5lb, 1.5lb, 1.5lb. Thought the bigger codling was a monster - din't realise that I was also dragging in some gear as well off the grip lead. This then got stuck - comedy moment of a codling suspended in the air, just above the sea...

Can see out of my study window that the sea has flattenned off a bit now. Probably still worth a shot this evening though.

Mussel usually works off the north pier end.

Caught 3 on cocktails of lug, blacks and mussel. 2 on lug only and 1 on a 3 day bit of
razor, last cast, just for laughs.The last one tastest the best 'cos it was daft.

cracking session mate. reminds me of a session last year by the fish quay. hooked two fish, a codling and a flattie and then got the lead stuck on a shopping trolley !! lol . they were both dangling in mid air ... unfortunately had to pull for a break and lost the lot !!
