Hi guys n gals, am thinkn of buyn the 7ht mag does anyone own one if so what do you think?
did you get your moneys worth, is it worth £160

Anyone heard any bad reports? Good points/bad points?

At £160 i thought ad get a bit info/feedback first

I already have a 525mag, abu 6500 mag hi speed (which the handle keeps coming loose) and the saltlist 20, is the7ht mag the same, better or keep my cash in my pocket.

thanks for any info

cheers

Brian

yer mate i fish all over lookn at the 7ht mostly for the clean beaches.
and your dead right i only ever use the 525 or the saltlist north of the tyne

apparently theres a handle issue which can be rectified with aftermarket parts...without sounding like a brochure i guess its a high spec reel....again in all honesty if u r comfortable spending that money then go for it .....

I have 1, they cast fantastic, out of all my reels I have now and have had previous it casts the best. Mine never gets used as I don't think it has the guts to pull in anythin heavy. It's a clean beach reel and thats that.

yer mate am ok spending that amount, its just i dont want to waste it if there's a re-occuring problem av not heard of

like my abu hi speed apparently its a common fault the handle coming loose and i wish ad asked about it on a forum before i bought it as i really P's me off when it happens within the first half hour of a fishn sesh

If U fish North of the Tyne U'll never use it or need to to use it IMO...

You're better off with a 525...

cheers peter just bought 1 n av only used it 2 practice cast there cracking casting reels but like peter said the 525 is the better option

casts a dream but dont try to pull out of snags using the reel, wrap it around your arm and pull out that way.i have had mine over a year and no problems. best with 15 to 18 lb line and shocker.

Had one since they first came out. From a fishing point of view (as opposed to out and out casting) probably the best clean beach reel on the market. Smooth as you like and a dream to cast on the beach. Plenty of guts in there - I've pulled in Smoothhound to 7lb with mine (a mate of mine had a 28lb smut on his), double shots of Black Bream, all hard fighting fish and all in the weed infested waters of the Solent. Fair enough you might struggle with a big double figure cod but how often do they come along?

IMHO as said above it is the best clean beach reel out there, will do anything you ask of it, teamed with my TTLD it is my set-up of choice for everything except rock / kelp work.

Ha ha, I've got one too! I love it for casting and fishing but the only place north of the tyne I'd prob use it is lynemouth beach!

why not try one of the new Akios reels that are just out,,they are getting good reports off just about everyone that has tried them,,never seen them myself yet but they are supposed to be made by someone that used to work for abu,,only he has made them better,,might be worth a look,,,,,Parrot..

Av heard today in the tackle shop that the 7ht bearings keep going and the breaking system seams to reverse its self some how.
Alre been reading about the new 515 mag there's some good reviews
