went on the heugh a couple of day ago, around tea time thought I'd have a couple of hours float fishing there was a lot of people on especially on the end so decided to fish the sea side of the pier about 50 yards from the end, baited up with macky belly and set the depth to about 16ft within a couple of minutes a landed a coalie of about 1/2 lb and immediately returned it, the bloke who was feathering next to me said, why you do that they are good to eat,not at that size they aren't i said, on his next cast he foul hooked a Launce he asked me what it was and can you eat it i told him yes so he put it in his bag i couldn't believe it,then for the first time since i arrived i had a good look around the pier, there was 22 people trying to fish the end, all casting over each other, people shouting at each other, some dick blasting rap from his radio, a woman with two kids of about 9 or 10 fishing the bay side of the pier ffing and blinding at them, when i go fishing for me its the peace and quite, the sea ,the wildlife a time when you can forget about your worries and problems and just enjoy, this was a f///ing circus, packed up there and then ,when i was walking off a bloke asked me if i had any feathers to sell i didn't even answer him just kept on walking.

What needs to happen involves a very large mincer. Throw all the scum that puts the rest of us normal folk in a bad light into it and give them a good blitz.
The end result plenty of s**t to spread on farmers fields as fertiliser, job done :D

Has anyone got a sense of humor on this thing, what happened to people havin a laugh, jeasus !

Whats needed is a little education, Local councils could put up info boards on the piers. info on what can be caught at what time of year and minimum sizes to take home, and reasons why you should not take undersized fish! as well as the dangers of swinging lumps of lead about. just as the tourist boards do etc at sites of special interest about birds and wildlife etc.

How many kids, chavs research this info before going.

Most folk just dont understand about looking after fish, bet they would'nt walk into a conservation park shoot anything that flies stuff into a bag and worry about wether it was edible later!

A little information goes a long way!

Anyway thats my two'penneth!

winter will be here soon and all the chavs will go back into hybernation for next years makerel run ;)

Sorry, but signs do not work. I've been in a river club with strict rules since I was old enough to join and you still get muppets - young and old blatantly ignoring written signs and rules just to catch a fish, it doesn't matter what you print or put up people will ignore it if they want to.

The only way to stop it happening is to police areas popular with fishermen and fine them heavily if they break the rules whether it littering, offensive language or taking undersize fish. But... that costs money and no one will pay for it.

In all honesty dont think it would make any difference these are generation were the phrase BROKEN BRITAIN comes from ! Probaly mugged some old woman for a couple of quid 2 get there packet ov daylites no respect for nothing and no one ! Hope am wrong but would think at least 80% are past taking any information in and respecting the fish and coastline ! SAD but thats the way of the world nowadays

Its always the same in the Summer fishing season lads. It will only get worse at Hartlepool with Steetly shutting.
Mick.

I think we should all qualify for a slot on the telly program "grumpy old men".

Only kidding, but it is good to read about serious fishermen who have a keen interest on fish conservation.

The morons are out there (and breeding) doing their best at ruining every aspect of social life with their totally selfish attitudes. School didn't work for them and neither will anyone suggesting to them to limit their excess's, be it fishing or any other persuit.

Bring on Winter - morons can't stand the cold & wet...
