a week in Berwick

Took my two grandsons, aged 10 and 5, away to berwick in the touring caravan. We fished the week mackerel spinning an hour before and after each high tide during the day and caught quite a few mackerel. The kids were delighted and didn't want to come home at the end of the week (Sunday 28/7/13).The fish were all of a good size, bigger than average that I'd seen on Roker or South Shields in recent years. Many were cooked on the bbq on our arrival back at the caravan and I even managed to freeze a few for when we got home.
One thing that puzzled me though, where was everyone? We were alone on the pier most of the time. Still, I suppose it made a change from when I fished Roker on Thursday 18/7/13 when you couldn't move for the fine weather fishermen.
Looking forward to next years trip and so are the kids.

We used to fish up at Berwick every summer when I was a kid.... mainly on the pier. I NEVER EVER saw anyone else fishing so im not surprised you didn't either..... I wonder if it's coz everyone fishes the Tweed for Salmon instead of sea fishing? Never mind though, nice trip for you and the kids... :)

Berwick will be crammed from now on! Take it quiet while you can mate. It is a luxury to be the only ones on. I posted about our favourite pier on a Scottish site and regretted it!

Glad you enjoyed your stay.
