Advice- Rough Ground Rod

Thinking of investing in a rough ground rod to fish some of the more 'challenging' marks amongst the rocks and kelp forests.
Sonik sk3/4xtr rough ground could be an option, the new Icon msport range is also under consideration or even one of the anyfish anywhere rods. What's peoples thoughts on these or even something else I've not thought of! budget is a max of £250 but really would like to get it down from this figure if at all possible.:

You could get a good secondhand zipplex or century...... theres a lad on whitby forum selling a class condition m4 evo ideal ruff ground rod if you want a chat / photos off him p.m. me ya number and I will see if I can sort summat out for ya ?

I Have just got a brand new sk3 xtr rough ground 14ft and I'm very impressed with the quality for the price . But like others have said a ikon m power etc etc. Although a powerful rod imo the rt ax has not as much bite detection as the others I have already mentioned.

Iv got an old sonik sk4 and i like that and i fish rock marks from Newbiggin up to Boulmer with it . You can get a good WR300 for less than £200 or if you could manage to spend £300 you can get a new Harrison Torrix P3 this is what i want when iv saved up :).

I have sk4 14ft never let down yet so far saying that I watched me sons snap 6 inch above the spigot on lynemouth beach when he was casting out so there is truth in them snapping its now my 2nd rod as use reelsport rockmaster sons had both ss and wr300 both good for rough stuff wr300 is stiffer of them both and theres also greys Apollo mark 1 nd 3 mark two tended to snap

As already said I would go for the Ron Thompson Axe mate (£120 new). Got one myself this winter and I cannot fault it for the money. Ideal rock rod. Plus for that money when it ends up scratched you wont care too much. Take the left over cash and treat yourself to a new reel :D

Very few have a bad word to say on this rod (do a forum search and see)

You got a good deal if you got an Axe for £120 berwick. I take it thats the price that you paid for a new one ? The tackle shops that I have been in recently have them priced from ?169 to £184 ! Now you know why I sometimes cannot understand people advocating using their local tackle dealers instead of the websites as its patently obvious to me that SOME tackle dealers not only want a profit but want your eye teeth as well.

cheers.

Had one myself and there a excellent rod for the money but for same money 120/130 ya can get a secondhand century/zipplex I would rather have a good condition tip tornado sport than a brand new Ron Thompson but each to there own just have a look through classified ads on here first

AA - Got it from North East Tackle supplies. Got an Akios 757 at the same time for the same money. Not a bad combo for the rough stuff imo

Have never tried or owned one but I also like the look of the Leeda icon m-sport ultra power as previously mentioned
