you can get cod from that area matey.
there are a few marks around there, mainly from the skeer you can see at low water around to tynemouth, where the old sh*t pipe used to empty out.
i have never fished there before, but i will in the future.
it will be best fished in a dying sea, a chuck along the edge of the skeer as the tide floods could be well worth a shot. the back end of the skeer is heavy with weed, i have seen it on a really big tide.
i dont have a clue what it will be like over high water, but you wont know until you try ;D

there are a few good marks further up the beach to the north as well

alreet guys, ive fished this area many times in my time, in my opinion its best fished around 2hrs to low water with a bit swell running, you can fish into the beach or cast along the skeer (known as bathing pool skeer) then as water floods you off you can deffo catch from the pool itself, lug, crab, & mussel normally does the buisness, my best fish from this mark was 8lb but ive caught loads around 2 to 5lbs plus some good coalys with darkness being the best by far.tight lines korky...

Hi Eddie, I have fished Tynemouth beach regulerly over the last 35 years.:) The bathing pool skeer fishes best from 2 hrs before low water on a southerly sea after dark, or on a gray cloudy day on a decent size tide. Fishing from the beach about 100yds north of the skeer before you go onto the skeer can also produce plenty of fish. Not so good on a northerly as its straight in ya face and the surf can be too big. At high tide a few anglers fish from the pool itself, casting onto the beach, again on a southerly swell. If the swell is coming from the north, fishing an hour or two after high tide at the bottom of the stairs at the north end of the beach is a good mark. Follow the tide back to 2hrs before low water, then go onto the rocks to your left (slatey gut) and cast to wards tynemouth pier. Rocks and kelp ground. Hope thats helpful. Still a chance of fish out the kelp etc on a calm sea. Arthur:D:D
