Catch report - finally.....
Catch report - finally.....
Myself, Gregg, Phill (and his mate - name forgotten soz

) and Mogthemackem (aka Darren) trooped up to Alcan beach last night to fish the flood - which as Gregg said was roughly 7pm til midnight...
Fine summer evening....
All on beachcasters - baits varied from frozen crab to razor and wormbaits
Very quiet from the off really - loads of little knocks, but they were more than likely from the thousands of crabs that were marching round the beach as every cast resulted in your bait being stripped off!!!
Darren was first in with a geet small Flattie (A Dab we suspect) no picture of that...
Another quiet spell then Gregg reeled in to find himself with a fish at last...
Another geet small flattie
Me and Phill (and his mate) had not had a sniff at this point...
Then it's quiet again for ages...loads of knocks but nothing concrete
Then Gregg gets a decent knock this time...
A nice scrapping size coalie...duly lobbed back of course
Then.....?......that was it really, a very quiet night fishwise, the sea state was all wrong really, it was flat as a pancake and no swell or surf.
If we'd wanted to we could have all scaled down hook sizes/baits and had our fill of small flatties but we were all after larger quarry on this occasion so it was not to be.
Good craic, good meeting new faces - Darren mate nice to meet you mate....have to do it again sometime

(he's got the best job hasn't he? taking kids fishing for a living!!!!

)
'til the next time....Cheers - Tony
