little flatties

little flatties

Fished there few times recently. Caught every time but all small undersize flatties. Some good quality, some full of lice.
Fished last Wednesday over high tide for about 1 1/2 hours while my son was at Explorers in Amble. Several undersize flatties plus a substantial rockling which was unexpected. It gave a great fight on light tackle and was a bit miffed at being caught!

always wanted to fish this river whats it like and whens it best to fish and what is the target species

Where the lad is in the picture is as good as anywhere at the minute, but when the tide starts moving the current can be wicked. It sometimes needs 6 or 7 ounces to hold the bottom !
But it's best to fish into the main current there, the fish seem to like it.
You'll get plenty of flounder, and at high water coalies usually show up as well.
