Headed out at 10:30 with the intention of a few drifts fishing the tide in. Pretty significant swell from the light but persistant northerlies made it a bit uncomfortable to travel but we settled around Hauxley and Cresswell fishing baited daylights.
First cast and the first mackrell of the season came up. A great start to getting the new smoker tried out - or so we thought at the time. Instead, that was the only mackrell we saw all day!
We did get into quite a few small cod that all went back around lunchtime as the tide filled up as well as a single "keeper".
Headed back around 2:30 for a lumpy ride home.
On the plus side despite the swell, it was a lovley day and I noticed the water temp had increased by a good couple of degrees since our last fruitless outing.
Fingers crossed for a bit of settled weather over the next few weeks!
