Another good session on SSP, Monday 1/6/14

I'd been planning on going over to silloth on Sunday, but stayed out fishing late on shields beach on Saturday night (and only got 2 flounder), so couldn't be bothered with the long drive so just decided to do an all-dayer on SSP. Fished at the 44 from 9am to 9pm, with Sean.

Sean kicked it off early on his second cast with a double shot of dabs, then continued to pull in dabs and coalies steadily all day, he must have had over 20 fish all together.

I was fishing right next to him, using the same type of 2-hook flapper with rag, but I didn't even have a knock all morning, apart from this spider crab

Sean kept getting fish through the afternoon, so at around 4 when the water was getting higher, I decided to switch to a pulley rig with a big fresh crab bait, and managed to get my first fish of the day

It was worth the wait.

And after that my luck changed and I started getting the dabs and coalies and a couple more smaller tommies, ended up getting about 10 fish, and managed 2 dabs on one hook!

The hook had gone through the lip of the top fish and foul hooked the bottom one.

Fished alongside fishingmark and a few other lads from nesa for most of the evening, and as always, good crack. It seemed like the fish were really coming on by 9, but we'd been out 12 hours, so decided to call it a day. Just after we left, jarradisco got a good cod, bigger than mine at 2.5lb.

It was a canny session mate. I wish I'd caught the fish Sean caught, I'd have won that comp no bother! He was fishing right between the two of us and getting all the fish, don't know how. That was a nice codling, well done Andy.
