Another wrasse bash with the expert

Malky arrived at our Drummore caravan as arranged and we planned our wrasse bash over a cup of coffee. We decided on a mark on the west side of the MOG and duly headed off in Malkies car. For bait Malky had rag,lug and a secret concoction !!!! I had lug, crab and limpet.

We both set up with sliding floats and waited for that tell tale bob. I tell you Malky is a true wrasse magician and was in within seconds. You have to see it to believe it. By the end of the session Malky was well into double figures including a couple of pollack, one of which he "charmed" out of the water. I will let Malky describe his fishing action for you when he finds this thread.

As usual I stuggled against the great man. Missed a few bites at the start of the session then got a decent fish on only to have the hook pull out on me. Eventually I managed to get a wrasse out of the water so that cheered me up. Got into another decent fish only to lose that one as well to what appeared to be a poorly tied knot - had that tell tale "pigs tail" at the end of the line. Oh dear !!!!

Meanwhile Malky appeared to be getting a fish out every other chuck. I then had another good fish on only to lose that one as well. It looks as though the wrasse had simply bitten through the 15lb mono on this occasion. I think I only managed to land 3 wrasse in total.

With about an hour to go we both switched to spinning for a bit of a change. Malky was first in again with a decent pollack. True to form I followed with a micro pollack. On my very last chuck I got into a good pollack of about 4 lbs. It scrapped really well and eventually I managed to tease it onto a rock ledge at my feet. At this point the hooks dropped out and I decided just to help it back with a gentle nudge. It went away like a rocket.

What a great day out it was then. If the UK ever decides to have a wrasse team Malky will have to be captain. Malky came back to the caravan for a coffee before hitting the road again. I decided on the medicinal red option. I think I should organise a bass challenge against him,at least I may stand a chance in that one.
