am off to edinburgh for a few weeks and could do with a mark to catch codling in the area? i thought maybe north berwick or dunbar but have never fished there before ..any ideas lads????

i was there for a week in august, loads of marks ranging from shallow sandy coves to the deeper rock marks. ... i fished with my 13yr old son who enjoyed it immencely... his favorite mark was the southern end of north berwick itself..

easy parking and just a short walk to a rocky outcrop.. short casts got fish every time... it must have been coaley capital of scotland... all between 1/2lb to a lb though.. we just couldnt get through the hoards of coleys..

over the week i never had a single cod there, it was all coley and mackeral.. we tried crab..both fresh and frozen... squid, fresh lug, rag, but all that seemed to catch was macky.. and of course there were plenty of them to be had on the lures and feathers...

even tried fishing at night... just coleys again..

its a canny place.. easy accessable marks, some nice gulleys, and according to a couple of locals.. it fishes better after a big blow... especially the gulleys close in..short chucks with big fish baits... often resulting in savage bites.. real rod jerkers.. we must have had well over 50 or 60 fish in a 2 to 3 hr session each time we went out..
there are also plenty of other marks within a short distance.. dunbar..skateraw..torness ..st abbs.. eyemouth..
hope this helps a bit and i hope you have a nice time and get a few fish..
cheers
Paul
