Still got my Source Estuary match is over ten years old,was going to suggest yours was probably a batch of cut down/shortened versions, original like mine are 13 feet long.Slimmer and lighter yours bargain at that price,be a lovely rod like my original. Its not an ideal rod for the pier, maybe calm days onto clean ground,1st gate Shields pier and the like, and certainly not for mixed or heavy ground unless your heavy float fishing or spinning what l ve utilised mine for after pollack and wrasse.
At its best at what it says as on the blank, estuary and clean beachs, light lines, multi or fixed spool reels, scratching or match fishing smaller species flatties and eels.Saying that it will still smack 4ozs and a two hook flapper 80yrds plus , and not smash the baits up.Hope this give you some ideas on it use.
Hi Thanks thats great info, just what i was looking for really.
the rod was showning bites incredibly well for even the smallest of flattys and whiting when fishing the ratty, so thats probably its best use rather than wreck it hauling over the rocks on the pier
I will use this rod for the rest of the summer and look for something heavier come winter time.
I am not sure if the rod was a shortened version of the estuary match, if i heard and understood correctly, the lite was built from a different blank altogether
His words where "from some stuff we had lying around"
He did say it was a very very good rod and would of probably done well had they advertised it and put it out for general sale
Apparently over the years they have made a quite a few prototypes that they either gave away as prizes or just never got round to putting into full production.
Good people to talk to, they seem to have plenty of time and enthusiasm for there customers which is a rare thing when talking to any company over the phone these days
