Anyone out

Yer i am out in the morning half day also, going mainly to catch some mackerel, coalie or herring for bait for the tope trip...need some fresh bait as so far only 2 tope been caught so think we may turn to a day pollack fishing.

Anyway from what i am seeing it should be ok until about 11-12ish then we will see that sea chop up then followed by North rollers in the afternoon...sure it will change by the morning thou.

Water still dirty i am told upto 4 miles off and low tide is around 8am so i wont be bothering with anything under the 5 mile mark, just heading straight off and hope the sea and the drift speed is ok.
 
It had picked up, we had a cracking day last Friday 2 fish a drift for large chunks of the day but i am told after this flood water and NE sea its hard going again. Will report regardless what we get if anything.

As i said AM better, PM i cant see it beign ncie at sea at all.

Well richy you were right, just managed to get out and turned back in. Too big of a sea on for my liking. Wish this weather would sort itself out, starting to get a tad frustrating. :mad:
 
We had a canny day but as stated before once 1pm came it was rough...a silly o'clock start at 5am gave us 5hrs of fishing in a smooth at first then slight sea but after 11.30am it started to build...i will do report later but we could of filled the fish box easy :)
 
Well so far so good for a 3 day boating sesh weather wise, even found and purchased a 3rd Maxximus 20-40lb class solid carbon rod from Billy's (£65) with the two Royal Quays vouchers taken it down to £45 so pressure is on to test it out before it gets used for the tope trip.

Been saying it 3 weeksn now...this weekend could be the one the mackerel come in, water is clear and the wrecks start fishing well :) maybe just maybe.

Plenty mackerel today richy close in, water clear but not many cod, bout 15 on board biggest 6lb but mackerel didn't show til end of the day but were there in numbers had about half hour where everyone had them
 
Hope they turn up on Friday as i have 3 fillets left in the freezer, mind squid been taken a few fish also.

Well i am doing the wrecks again Friday, got my eye on some 12 mile off that i not tried this year so will stop on a few wrecks on the way and see if any macka are about. Very few on the west coast still, so i am hoping to land and freeze down a further 15 ungutted for a tope sesh in 2 weeks time.

I keep staying away from the ground in the hope the wrecks just turn on but it is starting to become like a broken record when you drift a wreck and the fish finder shows no sign of life at all.
 
Not b long richy we were getting odd ones off the wrecks, a lot of small coalies about aswell hitting them 2 and 3 a time most of the day, no bigger than half pound don't know if that a good sign or not ????
 
Was talking to a few lads off Blyth this morning, they reckon they have had a few mackerel off the pier the last couple of evenings, not sure if there is any truth in it though. Need to restock meself, ready for loch etive, end of this month. Here's hoping this weekend is the one :)
