Aux outboard, no spark, any ideas..

I've got a 2005 Johnson 4hp 4 stroke engine, and i've been trying to start it today....
It wouldnt start so i took the spark plug out and there is no spark..

Need it sorting so i can sell it.....

Any ideas on what the problem might be...:question:

I havnt got a spare plug Dunc, but i did put a screwdriver in the HT Cap and cranked the engine but still no sign of a spark...

It will be the plug mate try cleaning it normally its just dirt if no joy replace it

If that don't work then it sounds like the coil

Could be the plug lead or failing that, the coil?

Then again,I'm just guessing

The plug is clean and looks brand new, the engine was stored in the garage while Rob had it, he started it last year but now it wont start...

Stu had the same probs with his outboard over the winter the plug was knackered mate don't know wether it was caused from the cold or damp so he got a new plug fired straight up i had the same probs with my aux was to used fine sand paper on the plug

ps: how much are you selling the engine for?

The cavitation plate and skeg are broken on it as well, but i thought if i can get it running i would put it on ebay, its a long shaft and apart from the cav plate, skeg and not starting it is in very good cond...it was seviced 01.04.2012 and hasnt been used since...

I hate to ask this but you have checked the emergency stop is in place? If it is in place take it out and put it back then try again.

Yeah i tried the kill switch, and just tried a brand new plug in it and still wont start...

Looks like a coil then...
