heard today my area are putting up bait prices £4.50 for ten live blacks any thoughts ,is it time to pack fishing in do you fish ragworm razors etc.are blacks that scarce they have to put prices up to cover costs i dont know

Use another bait. No way would I pay 45p per worm!
If you mail order frozen black it can be as cheep as around £2.50 per 10 plus postage. Get a few people together and get some ordered. ;)

Not used them yet but seen them on Baits Direct:

http://www.baitsdirect.com/acatalog/baits_sea_bd.html

£2.88 for 10 for the Dungeness or £3.30 for 10 welsh.

I ordered a load of bait from here last year, lugk, mackerel, squid etc. It came next day, well packed and still frozen. The worms were as good as any i have bought in a north east tackle shop!

hi mogthemackem, i heard but it must of been wrong the ryhope shop was charging 50p a black last year a little better 45p. just reading about bait direct they say dungie lug firmer but smaller i found this a few years back fishing there , i believe rigs at the harbour gets the welsh blacks in frozen 3.50 a pack they are longer than dungie worm but do come out soft not like the dungie worm its just what you prefer.postage is always the stumbling block thats what boosts the price up,bulk buying has got to be best a few people getting together
