ACDC
Seen them in the UK, Germany and Holland and they put on one hell of a show. Germany got a little obnoxious when pretty much every track ended up having a veeeeerrrrrryyyyyy loooooooonnnnnnnnnnnng guitar solo, so by the end of the gig you were pretty much bombed by them all.
Whitesnake and Iron Maiden put a great live event on as well.
Changing genre just slightly

I Saw Brian Kennedy as a warm up act years back for Clannad

and he is an awesome liver performer.
Dire Straits were brilliant - I still remember Mark Knopfler stopping during the intro of a track, saying "let's try that one again" when he completely messed up and subsequently aced it
Rod Stewart - awesome. Fan or not, he is a one man show and doesn't even need a band to get any crowd behind him.
Bryan Adams - superb, whether you're a fan or not.
Queen - there aren't the words to describe how Queen get the entire venue jumping. Unless you've experienced it it's impossible to describe, so they'd probably be my number one choice for a group.
For me, the best I've seen as an overall gig (so ignoring "Monsters of Rock" and similar multiple-group festivals) was Bruce Springsteen. I'm not that big a fan but the show he put on was just stunning and hats off to anyone who can get up and actually play the notes and sing the songs without miming or using any of today's techno-nonsense helping them along.
Local bands: I'm going back a few years here but the "Flat Back Four" were a group of local lads who often played the pubs and clubs in the north east, and they were great, covering classic rock tracks.
Overseas - I saw The Dillards years ago in America and although not everyone is a fan of Bluegrass, they could really play, and it was impossible to not get swept along by it all
You could say I have wide and varied, eclectic and possibly polar opposite tastes
Now, who will be the first to admit seeing The Dooleys live ?
