Bass Trip

I have just posted details of a bass fishing charter trip on the boat forum. This will be a short trip next tuesday evening specifically to target bass and may be of intrest to people who normally fish the shore .

See the boat forum for details as I think it could be fun.

Cheers
Dave

PS. I have never caught a bass which is why I booked the trip in the first place.

Good Luck Dave :)

(I hope you get one bigger than the mini-bass that took my mullet bait (breadflake) at the weekend!)

ps will you be lure-fishing, livebaiting, or bait-fishing?

Leon,
As far as bass fishing goes my knowledge extends to the fact I know the skippers phone number.

To be perfectly honest I was hoping that someone with more knowledge than me would come along to show me the way.

:)

Try sticking a live mackerel on the end - it's quite surprising how big even a quite small bass can open it's mouth!

You don't have to fish deep, 6ft or less.

(But watch out for those nuisance porgies!)

Leon,
I still live in hope about a porgie ...but since there has been one or two things said about bass recently I thought I would make an effort to find out what they taste like... from what I am told the small ones are more juicy and if I dont eventually like the taste I can always freeze them down for skate baits in the winter ;)

Intrestingly enough I recieved an email from someone involved with (and to keep it vague) hartlepool, associations and boats ...were all in his title.

He wanted to inform me that the sharks off the coast here are not porgies but Mako's and to prove the case one of 12 foot long was landed in Aug in hartlepool last year.

Now come on ...12 foot long...the current world record caught in Massechusetts was 11 foot 2 inch long...96 inch girth and weighed 1324 lbs. I think if a fish of the proportions quoted in that email had been caught it would have been heard about before now and may even have been front page news on the Hartlepool Tribune.

Cheers
Dave
