I know this might sound daft but is their any rules on fishing the local beaches as in roker or south shields through the day like when the life guards have their flags out? I sometimes have the car daytime and would like to fish on a easy to get to beach as i have a bad leg and i am new to sea fishing.

pretty sure i have seen signs between the 2 piers at roker saying no angling from the shore between certain dates may- september rings a bell
not sure about the rest of the beaches though

Hi gnome, don't think there's any rules like but just use common sense, fish where there's no one using the beach at the time

You're not allowed to fish Roker bay from may to aeptber or something but not sure about the other beaches as think that's because of the sailing club launching from there. There should be a law against some if the numpties fishing for mackerel but unfortunately that hasn't been brought in to force yet :(
