Fished Brighams last night on a lovely wet and drissly evening. I fished two rods - one with a 3/0 pennel at distance and one with a two hook scratching rig size 1 close in. I was into fish straight away and landed my first ever five bearded rockling about 30mins after high water. I have had a few three beards before but this was my first five beard so I was chuffed about that and decided to take a picture of it. I managed to get some great shots showing all five beards using the macro setting on the camera before disaster struck.... Next up was a double shot of flounders and I thought this might make a good photo with them both hanging on my rig and the river behind so I went to pick up my camera. With all the rain my hands were wet and it slipped out of my fingers and bounced off the concrete towards the water - I managed to grab it just in time but unfortunately as it whacked the ground the flap on the side came open and the memory stick shot out and flew into the Tyne. Nooooo!!! So I lost all my great rockling pics and also the ability to take any more pics that session except on my crappy old phone which is pretty useless really. Gutted.
Anyway, after that I caught a small coley then another flounder which was a bit funny looking having a very small tail and fins in relation to its body. Later on I caught an eel which was my last fish of the session bringing the total to six.
All fish were caught close in on the scratching rig using rag and prawn. The other rod and the other baits (lug, mackie and squid) didn't get anything.
