Well since i dont wet many lines Until April, thought i give myself something to read.

Whats the 2 species you have caught from the boat or shore this year that you dont often get ot see many of them?

For me it was a scad and a 8 legged friend

also saw one of the lads i was fishing with out of seahouses (john k) bring in a cuckoo wrasse so all in all seen some canny rare fish in these parts this year

i caught some ragworm with mackeral wrapped in elastic thread...yes thats right i havent caught a fish this year!

Great looking fish them male Dragonets, bright blue etc, i have only ever caught 2 of them 1 male and 1 female both from Shields pier mark 44

Great colours on em the blue seems to pulsate through em. Was very weary of it mind as I didnt know whether it was poisonous but it was safely returned :)pic on my profile album richie not a very good one tho ;)

this year i caught a norwegian haddock or redfish as they are commonly known (Sebastes marinus) from sarah jfk tyne and a north sea haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus) from flamer II hartlepool.starting to think they are like busses as i last caught one about ten year ago, this year 2 came along in a few weeks.

where did you see this mate i caught two this year on on the sarah jfk and one on guide me the one at seahouses was well hooked thro its beak saved it tho

I saw the seagull caught when I was out on the Mistress. I was fishing on one side, fighting off the sea sickness from the huge swells and I heard a load of commotion over the other side of the boat. Here was a massive seagull being wrestled by 3 blokes, all caught up in fishing line! It was huge, like an albatross or something! haha! They got it freed though and it flew away, somewhat huffed I would imagine.

Reminded me of a time a good few years back when I was fishing from North Shields fish quay. I had a crappy telescopic rod baited up, ready to cast just lying on the edge of the wall. I turned my back for a second to wash my hands and when I looked back a bloody seagull (another albatross!), had grabbed the baited hook, carried my crappy rod off and dropped it into the harbour! I couldn't believe it! :red: Luckily that was just my spare 'crab line' rod! haha!

Its gotta be the baby buggy i caught at north shields... Managed to land it too... 25 mins to get it in lol... Was gutted when i found out what it was! :( Thought it was a plastic bag fish full of water :D

9 1/2 lb Pollack and 7lb Cod caught from a small boat in a Fjord in Norway. Tackle used 15lb braid, spinning rod and fixed spool reel.Lure used red eddystone eel which my mate Douggie gave me.Pollack was pulling the boat along.

octopuss off hartlepool.....urghhh couldn't get shot of it, sqirting water n grabing hold of the boat...tentacles everywhere, only had 7 left when i finally got rid of it...:o
