Because i cant go fishing

Fishing aboard Upholder out of Amble in July I managed to catch a Gannet right at the side of the boat. It had taken a fancy to a mackerel that I was just about to swing into the boat. Had to use the net to get the bird in the boat and then took 10 minutes getting it untangled after it managed to wrap itself in my line. Fortunately Dave (the skipper) had a good hold on it. Never realised how big they are or how sharp the beak is. Great to see it fly away unharmed.

Is it not April yet????? this is killing me, purchased the last of the Norway tackle today and even topped up the skate fishing tackle, so now i got nothing else to keep me busy from a fishing point of view...popped down the boat to give it a clean down and check out after the winds, she is looking sad, dirty and unloved with out any attention from captain or crew since Oct the 8th

When these winds drop, take Stingray for a run out Richy and make it feel loved again , these winds we're getting now are going to dissappear for the 2 weeks i'm off at xmas............I HOPE.....

I'm sitting here wondering what is going to drop first, the wind ......... or the roof , sounds worse than it did the other day when it hit 165mph in scotland.

Ow i am so not a fan of winter boat fishing.

This year it is the lift out and paint year (been 2 years now) so will be out of action until the 2nd week in April at least. Going to change its cutless earing also as its 1 year old now and really should be done.

Looking forward to the season starting and hope we get as mnay fish as 2011 but more nicer days.
