Beginner to boat fishing

Hi all,

I went on a trip last Sunday and really enjoyed it. Just hired the gear but looking to get my own set up soon. Was just wanting to know about suitable rods and reels. Not wanting the top of the range but equally not the worse, something middle of the road which would be suitable for both rough ground and wreck fishing. Sorry to sound stupid but I wouldn't know where to begin :red:.

Difficult to say really what my budget is as I don't know what would be a middle of the road set up. Say £150 with a bit of flexibility.

the rest you just add to on a need/trip by trip basis

and for what its worth I've never bothered with mono leader when using braid, too much hassle.

braid straight through. if you snag the end gear will break first, seconds to add some more. If there's a mono leader and you snag, equal chance of that going and its too much hassle adding new leader

Bison 30-50lb rod. Daiwa sealine 450 reel. Seat box. Loads of weights. Shads. Rigs etc. Would take £80 if gone today

Thats my choice as well.
Just got another tld15 off ebay for £58 delivered nearly new, not a mark on it.
Plenty of good rods to choose from for upto £90.

Couple here, few days left on them. Just keep an eye on them.

If you do go for a TLD15 avoid the ones with the black handle, the chrome handles are much better.
