Best Curry in Town?

Just had a Ruby from the Ruchita take away in Wallsend - best one in the immediate area IMHO..

In Town (Newcastle) my fave used to be the Rupali - where the Right Honorable Lord of Harpole will happily pose for a polaroid snap with you (for a fiver!!)...but I started to get put off by the waiters asking if you were OK every five minutes - clearly wanting rid of you in case a crowd of 30 p*ssed Geordies came in and wanted verything on the menu.

Then I was introduced to Tandoori Nights on Grey Street by a mate and I've never gone anywhere else for a curry when in Town.

Anyone got a favourite of their own out therre?

don't know if its still there but always liked the simla(?), bottom of the dean street, probably because it opened til 4am and was just about a manageble distance after falling out of the cooperage at 2!

Try Aramee in North Shields. Food is slightly different to the usual and the service is really good. Well worth a visit, it is just down from the Old Hundred

Both still there - never been in the Simla, but have staggered out of the Cooperidge at 2 tho (having tried my best to dance the Salsa)

I can second that, I also like the Romna in Whitley Bay mainly for takeaways.

was at the simla last thursday night, great food, but a shame it attracts loadsof ****ed up knoheads,
Arami in shields is great, so is their new one in newcastle, the owners are great people ( the only indians i do work for )...top people and top food.
for a takeaway cant beat the ruchita in wallsend ( delivery service is excellent )

best sit down we've had was at the Balti House in Newcastle.

But my favourite of all time is Seaton Delaval Tandoori (take-away), been going there for nearly 22yrs now, lovely people, great food, owt not on the menu just ask and they'll sort it for you.

Yep The Tandoori Nights is a goodun alright also heard great reports about the Simla , Sachins at the top of Forth banks is a belter as well ,Punjabi at it's best ,my favourite was the Monkfish . For value for money and a great bit of nosh try the Golden Bengal on the Big Market ,it has a great happy hour .

the jandami is owned by a really nice fella, i did all the plumbing there last year when it got made twice the size, on hot sunny days he used to buy us all ice creams and had a huge free opening party for all that were involved in the refurb

for me its got to be 1st the manzil in morpeth, then the mahal in morpeth but the staff are bit of a missery, both these are sit down and takeaway. the beat takeaway has to be the chantry indian takeaway which has won a few best takeaway places over the years

talking about curry houses i have just made myself one half way through cooking i needed the toilet, washed my hands before i went but not good enough i think as it feels like i have been spaying deep heat on the old nads, the pain, the pain....................... mind my the chicken curry is spot on

cheers
mark:)

Wor lass is from the 'Peth so have been to Manzils quite a few times and it is very good. Tried the Chantry as well although I had actually ordered a King Prawn Byrani, they gave me scallops!!! It was different to say the least !!!

I'm trying to find the best authentic Korma sauce recipe (like the one you'd get in the restaurant) but as yet no luck:confused: ....anyone know it?

She lived on Lancaster Park

ah the posh area:):), just joking i would love to live up there instead of stobhill( the bronx) she would probably know of jacob conroy and son funeral directors and if you have been to the manzil in the last 17 years you might have even noticed the sign above the alley way as we are staight across from the restaraunt
