What are the favoured rigs out there for catching the (elusive?) Doublers?

I agree, 8/0 - 6/0 pennel with half a macky or a 10/0 with a flapper.

I saw one rig whereby it had two hooks (not a pennel)

It had one small hook/daylite on the bottom to catch a small bait fish then slightly further up it had the much larger (bare) hook to catch the big fish that took the live bait....anyone tried that one?

i always put 2 squid on the bottom of a orange jigger with a 8/0 trebble hook and never seem 2 fail catchin them big 1s

I generally fish a mackrel with its tail cut off to stop it spinning on an 8/0 with a 12" length of wire just in case.

This got us ling to 18 and cod to 15lb last year and at least you know you wont get pestered by whiting.

I prefer a whole fish as opposed to a flapper because the scent takes longer to wash out and there are no loose ends for the tiddlers to nibble on.
