Birth of a new shad ... ;p)

Hi Norman, will i be able to use my own jighead molds, and where can i buy rtv material, or is it top secret, they look really good, I have about 300 moulds, maybe we cud do some swaps, regards Allen m.

hi allen, RTV is basically a material that sets after a mix of 10:1 with activator there's loads of it on ebay. cures in about 2-3 hours if its warm but overnight to be sure, this slow set is good as it gives you lots of time from the mix to the slow pour into mould box.
this is the material for making the moulds ........

the material for making the lures themselves is called Plastisol which is a liquid pvc suspension which requires heat to a) turn it into a viscous mix then b) into an injectable fluid then c) solid as it cools ........

hope this helps

you could try cutting the back off and recasting a new back in a diferent colour the plastisol bonds great or apply alumidust to the finished shad and warming it with a heat gun the shad then becomes more transluscent. Ron

do you want to try some plastisol inks norman to overcoat them?

have been printing some t-shirts with plastisol inks, guess you could just paint or dip them and then give them a quick blast with a heat gun to cure the ink.

you could probably use it to build up certain areas a bit to add a bit more noise through the water as well or use it as a 'glue' and stick a few sequins or some glitter in

on the t-shirt prints, 10 seconds or so waving a heat gun at em works perfectly, but hanging them in the oven would work (i've cured t-shirts that way) but it will stink the kitchen out! Did a run of shirts in the shop a couple of weeks ago and by the time they were all cured, and I'd cleaned the screens with acetone and thinners the old ladies in the shop upstairs were all off their tits with the fumes!
