Black Path Pollack 31/8/13

Had a pop out this morning down the leas armed with some SP's in the hope of Pollack or a glint of Silver. With the Bum tides and pretty Low water I thought I'd try and find some holes or deeper gulley's to fish. Worked my way along to the Black Path and managed to get right to the bottom. Clipped on a OSP do-live onto a Mustad belly weighted hook and gave it a short lob.

Letting the lure slowly dive to the bottom I gave it a slow retrieve, gently lifting the rod tip and letting the lure sink to the bottom, bouncing along it was only 3rd or 4th cast when I got my first 'grab and shake' paused gradually then took up the slack again, a few cranks of the handle then bang, fish on. A spirited fight later and this nice little Pollack surfaced.

Quick pic, unhooked and returned to fight another day. A few cast later same thing again.

After that it all went a bit quiet, one more noticeable bump so I moved onto another spot. Carried on for another hour with only a couple of half takes.
Very enjoyable morning.

Nice one wreckingball , do lives can become rather expensive for pollock bashing eh lol there one of my go to lures as you will know

Well done Si. First time I've seen those weighted hooks. Do you think it makes a difference to the way the SP works to using cone weights on the line above the hook?

You can adjust the position of the weight mate, so you can have it weighted at the front of neutrally.

Yeah definitely mate, Lure stays more horizontal with a shallower angle while diving as opposed to a cone with the same weight. It's useful to play with different weights at different positions with the same lure. It can completely change the action of the lure.
