Bloody Wind - but still a catch report

Well most things went according to plan but one thing you can not change is the weather, the forecast changed over night and after leaving Whitby just before 8 we got to the 4 mile mark and was greeted by white horses all over the place with a freshening wind, a quick change of plan was needed and it was decided to stay on the 4 mile limit due to the worsening weather. The drift was horendous and you constantly had to feed line out to keep in touch with the bottom.

plugged away for a few hours and I ended up with 5 cod between 4lb and 6lb and a ling. By about half 12 the drift was just too fast to hold the bottom even with over a lb of lead so the unanimous decision was made to return to port.

all in all a bonus day for me - out in January and managed a few fish for tea.

all the best

6 fish even in the summer months is a good catch (apart from 2010) so nice one and it does nothing more than make us all want to go out sooner and sooner.....what month is it :)

Aye I`ll second that, the catch report page has been stuck for ages ... until now. Well done Jason, great day, the weathers all part of it but you still done well with a bag 'o' fish ... cracking mate !!! :)

Well done, nice to read a catch report in the boat section at long last.

I know you shouldn't wish your life away but I wish it was spring already :D

Nice one, five good fish for a morning's work is a cracking result, especially at this time of year. What did you get them on?

Nice one Jason.

Fresh fish in January - always a bonus...got a few remnants of last seasons catch to get rid of...and a new fridge freezer with more space to fill up when the season starts afresh :D
