Just a quick note on Slinky Kate trip out today (Sunday 19th Sept 2010).

Had a look out at the sea Saturday morning and decided was too windy to have an enjoyable trip so delayed it until today (Sun 19th Sept 2010)
Just Tony and myself as it was still a bit will we wont we ...

As usual we set ourselves a Target for the day, since catches of late have been poor and since there was no guarantee of actually getting the line to the bottom today we set a real easy soft target of 2 fish (between us) :D :D :D
Unfortunately we didn't achieve our target today :(

Discounting whiting and the abundance of mackerel (past 4 mile) around today we (well Tony actually) achieved only half our alloted target by boating just a single ling .......

We gave it our best with every tactic in the book but they were just not there .... I say not there because for a good number of hours we used pirks which although may not look good do actually work when the fish are around but not feeding ....

Met Rich and crew (the now out of retirement for the season Rich) so hope yous had a better day.

Nevertheless great criac, great ride out in an enormous but slow swell and a finishing smile on the face win or loose .......

aye norman still plenty maccoroonies about 5 mile off,and a few codlings this afteernoon,but still a severe nosedive compared to recent weeks/months.aye its nearly over,thing is what the devil to do for next 7 months till it all starts again
 
Was a bit gutted yesterday with no catch reports to read and had hoped you would make it out this morning. The sea looks much calmer than I expected shame the fish are still not playing ball.

Well done Tony ' Saving the blushes ' you have after all missed a weekends fishing and probably feeling a bit rusty, I am not so sure about Normans excuses:D

I am sure a monster will be landed on Slinky before the end of the season.

Hard days only make the good days great - and yes it is a cliche BUT IT'S TRUE! :D

Incidentally if anyone is having trouble sourcing shads from online sources - it's all Normans fault! Slinky will be running slightly lower in the water until we get a chance to lose a few :D

Bad days/Good Days it's all the same as I love them all :)

Season may or may not be drawing to an end but I have a feeling there's at least one last curtain call ;)
 
Not surprised all you's did'nt catch many fish........you's have allready caught al the buggers, theres none left!!!!!!!, Slinky,Shadey and Stringray have caught the bloody lot this year. 10 out 10 for effort though.

Still didnt blank Norman thats the main thing,:). Going by todays shore catch reports the tyne has fished great, so you probably went over the top of them on the way out............
 
we are out on wednesday from Hartlepool. I was,nt holding my breath for any big catches. Hope we try a few wrecks and might link up with something.

Well done on getting a fish, and well done for reporting the rough with the smooth. There’s a consistent picture developing of poor catches over the recent weeks. I hope it’s down to the big seas we’ve had and will improve again if the water settles and clears. Only time will tell.
 
Nice to seen you and your cabinboy out there Norman, shame you didn't hit your target but still pulled one in better than nothing. Next Time :D :D
 
This fishing lark is a funny old game innit :confused: One minute the sea is alive with all kinds of fish , the next you'd think that cod were an endangered species:rolleyes: .
I know you won't be losing any sleep over a blank Norman ;) there's more to fishing than filling boxes with cod otherwise we'd all just use trawl nets :D

On the upside Ray, with the drift the way it was and Tonys new found way of trying to use pirks as anchors we came home at a much more economical pace being at least 2 to 3 stone lighter in lead :) :)

and aye your right, no sleep lost, its almost as much fun (but obviously not quite) as catching lots. Again on the upside the filleting job was soon over ...... :) :)

soon be time to give it another go ...... although the weather not looking too good for next weekend .., but its early doors yet.

When my invitation to fish onboard Stingray with Richy arrives my first thought is YES, another lovely day out on the pond,and guess what I'm never dissapointed. Even in the Ian Woods and Frasers comps I still wont be, or put myself under any pressure. I go to enjoy the day out and if theres fish on the deck its a bonus in most cases the majority of the fish are returned,Yes even cod.So for A LOVELY DAY OUT lower the expectations,loose the pressure and chill, you'll enjoy more.
