Well done on catching mate, I was fishing between the middle toilets & the farm (moving around a bit) for 4 hours & never had a bite!!

Waiting for the sea to get monstrous before I try the pier again, but I think I've had it with the beach this winter!!

Cheers, Gary :)

It can be a very frustrating beach Gary, my mate used to hate fishing it as he always blanked. He would go on the pier while I was on the beach and I would ring him with catch reports until he stopped answering his phone :D :D

He wouldn't go and have a look at the place at low water to see where the holes were though, he would just fish the same place if it was available and never move. I still don't think it has been as consistant over the last three seasons though. Still the odd good bag here and there but I remember nights when everyone fishing would have a few.

:)Thanks lads, check the sea state today on the forum, took pics aboot an hour ago, am ganna gan back to stubblies later, if its fishable!:o if not the pier it is!!!;)

Tell me about it Jim! I've fished it many times this last couple of winters when the conditions have seemed perfect and it's generally been very poor, only odd fish located in small areas of the beach. When it has occasionally produced recently seems to have been at high tide or when it's been flatter than I'd have liked - trying to figure it out only seems to make things worse!

It's true though that at night time the beach will generally out-fish the pier, although the pier is the place to go when just about everywhere else is un-fishable, but I find it tends to produce more in daylight. It's not always comfortable on there when the conditions are right though!! Also it only seems to throw up the good fish / bags on the one tide, resulting in the inevitable "you should have been here earlier!!".......

Cheers, Gary :)

Best of luck wayne I hope you have a good night mate.

Gary, I started catching a lot more fish at high water about four or maybe five years ago. Not just at the Sluice end and up to the Astley Arms where there is a bit of a drop in the sand but also at the north end by the pipe. I just went on one night because I couldn't be bothered to fight for a place on the pier and had a great night. Another night we moved from the pier to the pipe because it was so cold on the pier our hands were agony. First chuck I was into fish and it was just before high water. It was followed by a few more for both of us all the way down the tide

The farm area will usually fish the tide right round as long as you have a look to see where the holes are as there are some very close and some a bit further out.

I always found the middle toilet area the most inconsistant, I have fished it in all conditions and it has rarely failed to surprise me. I've had a few decent bags from there but no really good bags. Some decent fish to about 4 1/2 lb but no really good fish like the rest of the beach.

Jim.

As gary says it was very poor last nyt on the beach, glad i made the move in our comp. Thing is it looked perfect on blyth but there was no fish.
