Fished the pier again with the youngun from 1700 till 2030 yesterday. Callum couldnt get there quick enough as he had a great session last time out beating dad again. Little did he know this was to be a different sesh altogether. The weather was great when we left the house and walking onto the pier but as soon as we were set up at the end it turned. A brisk wind and a spot of rain to boot. Anyways fish were proving hard to find with neither of us catching for about an hour then a couple of lads left from the top right hand corner so i jumped in that spot in a flash and found a flattie bed straight away. I lost count of just how many i got but it was over ten with the odd coalie coming in aswell. Callum struggled the whole session and just couldnt locate a fish anywhere. I did try and get him into the same ground i was fishing but he only uses one of my cheap spinners with a one ounce bomb on so couldnt get the distance or hold bottom with a canny run on the sea. I think next time ill give him a beachcaster to take but i think it may be a bit big for him yet. All fish i caught were undersize except one coalie but all were returned much to the bemusement of callum:D. Tried explaining why ya put em back but i think it fell on deaf ears. So left at about 2030 baits used were rag mackerel strip and frozen blacks all fish taken on plain rag. The youngun left in a huff but im pleased hes had a session like this to show him that you dont catch everytime. the old saying its fishing not catching was used a few times. Cheers Alan

Nice report mate, unlucky for the bairn lol I will say the huffs get worse as they get older, and at age 12 jesus a 5am macky session without any macky is awful. :D

A wiser better fisherman than me once said "I'd rather have a bad days fishing than a good days work" but those bad days can still be tough!

Nevermind, just means next time he catches will be all the sweeter! Congrats on your fish mate.
