Fished the pier yesterday from about 12:30 until about 6pm.
Had debated getting some bait on Saturday but didn't bother, thinking we had a lot to do over the weekend. Well with the drizzle Sunday morning we only did a bit shopping. Got to the bait shop just before closing time and there was no live bait so picked up a pack of runnydown, knowing I had razor in the freezer already. I've never been one for frozen baits so had never used runnydown in all my years, but I've got to say I was quite impressed - big worms, stayed on the hook no bother and certainly did the job, actually think they were better value than live for what I got.
Very slow despite constant bites from the moment the first rod was cast out. Had a very tiny coalfish early on, more non-stop knocks and eventually a crab added to the tally, lol, was constantly debating packing in for an hour or so when it started getting dark. Another set of little rattles and I picked one of the rods up to fetch it in and head home as it rattled then bang something bigger hit it - nothing of real stamp, but a nice codling of about 1.5lb was on the end.
Didn't see anything else caught and a pier full of guys were leaving in a constant stream while I was there. Pulling out of the carpark a few were arriving and heading to the beach, including codman40 - nice to meet you mate, hope you had some luck. Mentioned he'd seen a couple of Ray's Bream on the beach and oddly I had aswell - Saturday morning walking the dogs we found one near the pier, missus got a pic on her phone that I'll post when she sends it through.
