Blyth Pier where else

Saw the kids dragging all that junk along there on Saturday afternoon, kids about 11-12yrs old, language from them was shocking and they were acting themselve a fair bit.

what's the betting that the mattress doesn't get dragged back off the pier but either goes swimming or catches fire instead

well this is just the thing to get the pier closed im with mark probably get set alight the pier has been set alight a few times in the past absolute disgrace

All the kids, as far as I know, go (or went, as at least one has been kicked out I believe) to the new Bede Academy and I think live in the Avenues. But yes, the harbour authority won't take kindly, especially if all that does end up torched. The way they were acting on was enough to put people off being on the pier. There was also another lot, older about 16yrs or so, next to the marina getting lashed up on white lightning cider, old couple who'd been tinkering on their boat were commenting they'd been there all day steadily getting more and more drunk.

It makes you laugh when you see the chavs take their lasses onto the pier with them for a hot date macky bashing...now we know where they breed we should perhaps allocate the pier as a natural habitat and set up hides so that they can be observed in their natural environment - bless em when their mams kick em out for a night in with "Uncle Dean" they've got to go somewhere haven't they?

I'm going there tonight round 6pm for a couple of hours so will see if the matress is still there. Plus gona see how many fish I can catch just around the peer as I pulled in about 50 on Friday night just with feathers. All around 6 -> 12 inches but was upto 4 on a line.

We also managed to catch a weever as well.

Was told they were getting weevers off amble pier when we were there, seems a bit early in the year for the nasty little blighters.

Reminder as usual about weevers - hot water, hot as you can stand breaks down the toxins, doesn't matter where you get tagged, get it in hot water if you get stung, there's no anti-venom but DO seek medical attention ASAP in case of adverse reaction and monitoring.
Edit - same goes, btw, if you keep marine lionfish. However if you've managed to get a Stonefish or a Blue-Ringed octopus then goodbye ;) The B.R.O. is especially unpleasant I hear.

Nice one.

Note for others - the colouration is similar to a Whiting but the shape very different. The dorsal fin is very dark coloured and the spines are venomous as are spines on the gills.

Minimum 15mins of heat plus painkillers will ease the pain, but no matter how big and tough you are you WILL cry like a baby - I know and I've been tagged by one of these and a Volitans Lionfish!

Don't plodge barefoot in the summer, I always make my kids wear old trainers etc not just for these but for glass etc.

The spines can go through wetsuits and thin gloves, so handle with care if you must.
